Most of the inhabited part of Robinson Crusoe was completely destroyed by the Tsunami in 2010. The island is part of the Juan Fernandez archipelago west of Valparaiso.

Robinson Crusoe island was the original location where Alexander Selkirk was marooned as a castaway for over 4 years and inspired Daniel Defoe's famous novel.

With such a strong British connection it seemed very apt that the society should help rebuild the school and in particular the library which had some first editions of Defoe's novel.

We donated a total amount of £1.096 from The ACS General Funds
