Gabriela Mistral is on the list '100 Women Who Changed the World'

The list by the BBC History Magazine was based on a shortlist that readers voted on. The magazine asked professionals from 10 separate fields of human endeavour to each select and nominate 10 women they saw as having had the greatest impact on world history; which helped craft the shortlist for voters.

Gabriela Mistral, 1889-1957 Chilean poet-diplomat

Lucila Godoy Alcayaga, known pseudonymously as Gabriela Mistral, was a Chilean poet and diplomat whose works often explore morality and motherhood. She was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1945, becoming the first Latin American author to receive the honour.
