Prevention, rehabilitation and education of areas affected by the 2017 fire – Peralillo 2018.

In January 2017, intensive fires affected the central-southern zone of Chile, which had a severe impact on the agroforestry sector at all levels and exposed the limited preventive measures in place for managing and planning post-fire.

The Anglo Chilean Society is funding a project to prevent future wildfires and educate the community on how they can change farming methods to lower the risk of the wildfires of the kind seen last year in Chile.

The project was funded by part of the donations from our appeal and is being run by the Catholic University of Chile. We are delighted to be able to share this first report from the scientists involved.
