Fundacion Minga Valparaíso

The Anglo Chilean Society donates to Minga Valparaiso from its General Funds.

Minga is a Foundation that creates projects to develop the community and the children that belong to it. All the building work follows the principles of sustainable construction.

Minga Foundation’s main project is called Ludoteca Merced, located in Valparaiso, Chile. It is a place where children go every day to participate in supervised play, complemented with workshops such as cooking, music and painting, among others.

These children live complicated and vulnerable lives affected by poverty, violence and problems in their own environment. The programme creates a space where children feel and know they are cared and loved. The Foundation teaches them life skills and values to live a safe and happy childhood. Minga works alongside educational guidelines of anthroposophy (*) and Waldorf education, which have been essential to provide comprehensive care to them, emotional containment and work with healthy eating and playful games.

The funds donated by the Anglo Chilean Society will benefit them in the creation of a cultural music project within their Ludoteca Merced where the children of the community can create and enjoy music.

The money from this grant will be invested in buying materials needed for the daily workshops such as musical instruments, art supplies and food.

The Anglo Chilean Society is delighted to support them with a donation of £ 2000 from its General Funds

(*) Wikipedia: Anthroposophy is a philosophy founded in the early 20th century by the esotericist Rudolf Steiner that postulates the existence of an objective, intellectually comprehensible spiritual world, accessible to human experience. Followers of anthroposophy aim to develop mental faculties of spiritual discovery through a mode of thought independent of sensory experience.[1][2] They also aim to present their ideas in a manner verifiable by rational discourse and specifically seek a precision and clarity in studying the spiritual world mirroring that obtained by natural historians in investigations of the physical world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthroposophy
