'The Araucaria Project: my journey to discover the sacred' film

On Wednesday 2nd of February the Society held a private online screening of Fiorella Angelino's film -The Araucaria Project: my journey to discover the sacred.


This was the first event of the year and took place virtually with an excellent attendance. The Society's chairman, Alasdair Grant introduced Fiorella a Chilean Artist based in the UK as well as the other panellists; Martin Gardner, conifer expert based at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh who has a particular passion for native Chilean Auracaria forest and David Gedye author of ' Araucaria, the Monkey Puzzle.'


Fiorella showed her very personal film of her relationship with this extraordinary tree and it's status in the UK. The work included imagery and poetry with contributions from the panellists as well as indigenous leaders and experts on Chile.


The film was followed by a question and answer session. It was a real privilege to have such a wirld class line up.of experts on the Monkey Puzzle. Those wanting to see the film or buy one of the last copies of David's book should get in contact with this society.
