About the Event

Edmundo’s passion for archaeology started when he was 12 years old and discovered a pre-Incan tomb in northern Chile with the largest cash of  gold objects ever found in Chile, yet it was after visiting Rapa Nui in 1957, that he became enthralled by Rapanui culture and returned to the island in 1960 with archaeologist William Mulloy on an Expedition of the University of Chile to restore the Ahu Akivi altar.

At present he has been carrying out studies in Archeoastronomy on Easter Island and Polynesia and is President of the Rapanui Planetarium Foundation which owns a Planetarium and an Observatory upon the island.

The Anglo Chilean Society has provided funding for the Planetarium and is delighted that Edmundo is able to join us via satellite link up eventhough it will be after midnight on Easter Island.
