Serving two homelands: the London support to Anglo-Chilean volunteers during the Second World War. 


Many Chilean men and women joined as volunteers in Great Britain during the Second World War.  Many of these young recruits had never set foot on British soil. An influential network of organisations supported them from South America and, back in London, they were supported by both civil society organisations and the Chilean embassy. This presentation tells their story. 


Roberto Pérez Castro is a journalist with a BA in Humanities from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. He holds a Master's degree in Communication from  Universidad Diego Portales and an MSc. in Social Policy from the London School of Economics. He is a Doctor (c) in History from Universidad San Sebastián, where he researches the contribution of the Anglo-Chilean community during the world wars. .
