About the Event

Chilean fast population aging has been driven by the increase in life expectancy and the sustained decline in fertility rate during the last decades. At the same time, the country has experienced an accelerated economic growth resulting in major inequalities with a significant impact on health and quality of life of the elderly. How does Chile respond to these health and social transformations in this socioeconomic context is of regional and global interest.

The aim of this seminar is to discuss the main challenges posed by a rapidly ageing population in Chile, encompassing three main topics: Ageing and dementia, long-term care, and retirement policies. It will also be an opportunity to address the new health and social needs in a cross-disciplinary environment open to workers and researchers in social and natural sciences.

A limited number of travel bursaries for attendees coming from other cities within the United Kingdom will be available.

To apply for a travel bursary, please complete the relevant section in the registration form. The deadline to apply for a travel bursary is July 6, 2018. The maximum reimbursement will be 40 GBP per attendee.

This is an Embassy supported event.
