We’re very excited to announce the recently appointed Ambassador of Chile to the UK: Mr. David Gallagher.
Born in 1944 in Valparaíso, Mr Gallagher went to the Grange School, in Santiago, and Downside School, in Somerset. From 1968 to 1974 he was a lecturer in Latin American Literature at Oxford University and Fellow of St. Antony’s College, Oxford. With Morgan Grenfell he was in charge of Latin American business, and director of Morgan Grenfell International.
David Gallagher was a founding Partner and, until last year, Chairman of ASSET Chile S.A., a Santiago based boutique investment bank covering Latin America, and since 1985, an active member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Centro de Estudios Publicos (CEP), regarded as the leading think tank in Latin America. Mr Gallagher serves also on the Board of Cencosud, a Chilean retail company with a strong presence in Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Argentina, and on the Board of the Chilean Council of Foreign Relations as well as on the Editorial Board of El Mercurio, Chile’s leading newspaper.
In addition, Mr Gallagher is director of the Corporation of Cultural Heritage of Chile and is part of the Advisory Board of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection of Venice.
He will start his post as Chilean Ambassador in August. We look forward to welcoming him into our community!
