Yaritza Véliz: Soprano

Originally from the North of Chile, Yaritza started at the ‘La Antena Youth Orchestra in Coquimbo’ and she is the first Latin American woman to be chosen to participate in a program at the Royal Opera House in London.

The Anglo Chilean Society is proud to announce that she will be performing at the 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner on 15th April.

Yaritza Véliz studied at Universidad de Chile with a scholarship by the Corporación de Amigos del Municipal de Santiago. She also attended the Castleton Artist Training Seminar in Virginia. Competition successes include winning the Women in Music competition organised by the Chilean chapter of the National Museum of Women in the Arts from Washington DC

Opera includes Zaida Il turco in Italia, Ruggiero Tancredo, Musetta La bohème, Jano Jenufa and Clorinda La cenerentola at Theatro Municipal de Santiago, Pamina Die Zauberflöte at Theatro Municipal de Concepción, Musetta La bohème at Teatro Argentino de la Plata and Luiggia Le convenienze ed inconvenienze at Theatro Municipal de Las Condes.

Plans include Zerlina Don Giovanni and Magalena Cristo del Elqui at Theatro Municipal de Santiago. She joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme in September 2018 and will make her Royal Opera debut as Barbarina Le nozze di Figaro.
