HRH The Princess Royal was the guest of honour at the Anglo Chilean Society’s 75th anniversary gala dinner. The landmark event was held at Armoury House, Headquarters of The Honourable Artillery Company. Her Royal Highness was met by WO2 (SSM) Richard Vaughan who in turn Introduced The Chairman Mr Alasdair Grant and his wife Mrs Gayle Grant. The Chairman introduced His Excellency Mr David Gallagher , Ambassador of Chile. And his wife Mrs Sarita Gallagher. Her Royal Highness was accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.
Her Royal Highness better know in Chile as Princess Anne met members of the executive committee and their partners before being introduce by the Ambassador to his embassy staff.
Her Royal Highness also met with the Chilean soprano Yaritza Veliz who sang beautifully during the dinner accompanied by pianist Patrick Milne. The Princess then met with Miss Fearne Lambert Gorwyn and David Mckliesh who had been given Grants by the Society through our involvement with Project Trust. Her Royal Highness also met with The Honourable George Wyndham and his fiancé Miss Cruz maria Vallespir who had organised many aspects of the evening.
Her Royal Highness then attended a reception which included former British Ambassadors and our vice president Baroness Hooper. 168 guests dined on seabass ceviche and merken marinated beef.
During the dinner music was provided by the Brass Quintet of the Honourable Artillery Company. The British and Chilean National Anthems were performed.
The Chairman thanks Her Royal Highness for being present for out 75th anniversary celebration and spoke about the role and importance of the Society. Her Royal Highness responded by thanking the Society for what it was doing and spoke about the importance of our relations ending with a toast to the health of the Society. The Ambassador replied with a summary of recent activity both culturally and economically between the two countries.
The wine was provided by Veramonte and the principal sponsors were Anglo American and Antofagasta.
