For many years the Anglo Chilean Society has been making an annual grant to Project Trust to enable two students to spend a year in Chile teaching English. This is another short story from two student we sponsored and went to the same school, Emily Dick and Imogen Dixon the 2018/19 Project Trust volunteers.

‘We can’t believe our year in Chile is coming to an end. We’ve met so many new people, learnt so much and both feel we have a broader outlook on the world. Working in the school is a daily challenge but it’s so rewarding interacting with the children (there are certainly no dull moments)! Over the last 11 months we’ve become part of the school community, we’ve both especially enjoyed going into the morning prayer with various form groups as it’s helped us get to know the students more and also teachers from other departments. Recently, we’ve started helping the cuarto and tercero medio electronic groups to prepare for an upcoming science fair where they’ll have to present their project in English. It has been interesting helping older students improve their English for specialised subjects. We’ve definitely had to brush up our electronics knowledge! We’re sad to be leaving the school and we’re both going to miss the students and teachers we’ve gotten to know; especially the tías in the canteen and their amazing cheese empanadas! Our time in Chile and everything we’ve learnt will undoubtedly help us going forward into the next stage of our lives. We’re both eager to return to this country that has become a second home. Once again, thank you for your support in allowing us to have this opportunity.’
