We are delighted to announce that after a three-year break, we were once again able to hold our traditional Annual Asado, on Saturday, 30th of July. The venue this time was Epsom College in Surrey. It was a fantastic day where members, friends and children shared the delicious food prepared by Vivian Fernandez and her Pure Passion Catering team. The event was also a chance for many of our members and their families to meet our new chairman, Ms Fiona Clouder. The newly-appointed Chilean ambassador, Her Excellency Mrs Susana Herrera and her husband were also present.
In charge of the pits were our long-time member Peter West and Francisco Bartolucci, Deputy Head of Mission at the Chilean Embassy in the UK.
We were also treated to an impromptu mini concert by Rodrigo De León, a Chilean classic guitarist currently studying at the prestigious Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria. Rodrigo’s repertoire on the day ranged from Scarlatti, to Violeta Parra and Edward Elgar.
For the little ones, there was a piñata and there were reports of a fully-kitted Anglo-Chilean huaso seen roaming around!
The traditional raffle attracted great interest. There were some amazing prizes and no doubt the big prize was two nights in the gorgeous wilderness retreat of Mas de la Serra in Spain. The lucky winners were John and Sandra Amedick!
A big thank you Chilean Pisco Producers and all the people who were involved in the organisation of our first Asado since the start of the pandemic for their hard work and enthusiasm and also to all the members who attended with their friends and family.
