We are delighted to announce that the Anglo-Chilean Society, through the Alan MacDonald Endowment, has awarded a grant to support composer Carlos Zamora's new chamber music project, Echoes of the Atacama: A New Chamber Work Inspired by Northern Chilean Pre-Columbian Cultures. The work will draw inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of the Atacameño (Lickanantay), Aymara and Tiwanaku traditions, culminating in a world premiere in York and subsequent performances in Chile. By supporting this project, the Society is helping to promote Chilean artistic creation, cultural heritage, and cultural exchange between Chile and the United Kingdom, while contributing to the creation of an important new work by one of Chile's most distinguished contemporary composers.
