This project aims to commission Chilean composer Aníbal Vidal, currently based in London, to create and premiere a new choral work lasting 20 to 30 minutes. The piece will be performed by the vocal ensemble The Carice Singers and is scheduled to debut at the Spitalfields Music Festival in London in July 2025.
At its core, the composition’s text will explore creation myths from diverse cultures, presenting a unified vision shaped by multiple perspectives.
A key focus of the text is Pre-Hispanic American traditions, particularly the mythology and cosmovision of the Mapuche people, alongside the myths of Ancient Greece, Rome, Indo-European, and Eastern cultures. By weaving these narratives together, the work seeks to offer a universal and thought-provoking meditation on humanity’s shared origins and collective heritage.
