The Anglo Chilean Society is pleased to award a grant from the Alan Macdonald Fund to support the publication of a scholarly monograph on the Anglo‑Chilean community during the Second World War by Roberto Pérez Castro. This important work examines how British‑descendant communities in Chile mobilised socially, culturally, and economically in support of Britain, and how they engaged with diplomatic, commercial, and propaganda networks between 1939 and 1948.
The manuscript—already adapted from a completed doctoral thesis—fills a significant gap in both Chilean and British historiography. Its publication will benefit researchers, students, university libraries, and members of the Anglo‑Chilean community, while also offering valuable historical context for contemporary bilateral relations.
We are proud to support a project that deepens understanding of the longstanding ties between Chile and the United Kingdom and contributes meaningfully to the documentation of shared wartime history.
