The Forest book

The Anglo Chilean Society is pleased to award a grant from the Alan Macdonald Fund in support of the presentation of Ediciones Liebre’s children’s catalogue in London and the launch of The Fantastic Forest. This initiative, organised in collaboration with the Chilean Embassy and UK publisher Book Island, offers a valuable opportunity to highlight Chilean creativity in early childhood literature and to engage English, Latin American, and Chilean families in a free public event.

The programme brings together publisher Mónica Bombal and illustrator Sebastián Ilabaca for a talk, live drawing demonstration, and hands‑on family workshop, celebrating the artistry, imagination, and cultural richness of Chilean children’s books. Their visit also coincides with their participation in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair as part of the Chilean professional delegation, further strengthening the international presence of Chilean literature.

We are proud to support a project that fosters cultural exchange, promotes Chilean talent abroad, and introduces young readers and families in the UK to innovative, award‑winning Chilean publishing.
